Joe Vs Volcano

Tom Hanks movies are my favorites. Not all. At least not this one. After seeing the movie I thought I wasted my time and energy. It is a forgettable experience.

A hypochondriac Joe has a very lousy job. Generally the life was dull. During his visit to a clinic once his doctor informs him that he is suffering from a very obscure decease called as Brain Cloud. He has only 3-4 months to live. Here is where Tom Hanks has done a remarkable job. You can feel the sudden change and the numbness creeping on to you. The movie starts looking promising with innumerable possibilities. Unfortunately, it starts failing short immediately after. A tycoon visits Joe and tells him that why not live the remaining life in style and die in style too. He tells Joe about an island in Pacific Ocean which has active volcano, and inhibited by a tribe with a funny name. This tribe has a tradition that in every century they have to sacrifice a human life to keep the volcano peaceful. Time has come to sacrifice human life now. Joe was tempted by him to go to this island and jump in the volcano on behalf of this tribe. In return Joe can enjoy his life till then with all those things that he has missed for so long. The tycoon had a business interest in this proposal. On providing the tribe with their human sacrifice, he was to get some mining rights for a very rare metal available on the island.

Joe decides to take up this assignment. From this time movie gathers pace. Downwards into complete stupidity, uncontrolled moronic plot. Joe was escorted by his many daughters, one of them fell in love with him. They reach the island, that too by an accident. He offers to sacrifice, she declares her love, they get married by the tribal chief, jump off the volcano together. Volcano erupts, throws both of them out. They survive. Island vanishes. You are frustrated. End of the movie.

This movie should serve as a text book for how not to have a plot. You have remarkable actors in Tom hanks and Meg Ryan, but, a lousy plot can not be saved by most brilliant of actors.

Deleted. Deleted the movie promptly.
